A carboxyl-terminal deletion of 30 amino acids from the 98 kDa subunit prevents interaction with protein disulphide isomerase when expressed in baculovirus-infected insect cells This may reflect a specific interaction, although a general effect on protein folding caused by loss of cysteines (866 and 878) was not excluded.

Fat feeding caused an increase of mRNA in liver (55%) and intestine (126%), sucrose feeding caused a specific increase in liver (55%), while fasting had no effect.

Conditions that cause apoB to adopt a transmembrane configuration by in-vitro translation also result in the cytosolic protein cyclin becoming transmembrane. It was suggested that ribosome pausing rather than specific protein signals determines this topology, i.e the results may simply reflect an artefact of the lysate conditions.
