A combination of co-immunoprecipitation/biochemical purification and yeast two-hybrid screening methods was used to identify TRAF1 and TRAF2, two candidate signaling molecules that associate with the cytoplasmic segment of TNFR2. Both molecules contain a novel region of homology designated the TRAF domain. This paper represents the first identification of proteins that associate with the signaling domain of TNFR2.
