-
Lovley DR, Woodward JC, Chapelle FH: Stimulated anoxic biodegradation of aromatic hydrocarbons using Fe(III) ligands. Nature 1994, 370:128-131. This report demonstrates that hydrocarbon-contaminated soils and aquifers may be bioremediated by stimulating Fe(III) reduction in the subsurface using Fe(III) ligands. This offers the opportunity of utilizing for biorsmediation an electron acceptor that is often present in sufficient amounts in the environment.
