Anaerobic transformation of chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons in a sand aquifer based on spatial chemical distributions
-
Semprini L, Kitanidis P, Kampbell D, Wilson J: Anaerobic transformation of chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons In a sand aquifer based on spatial chemical distributions. Water Resources Res 1995, 31:1051-1062. Presents a framework of empirical evidence for the destruction of trichloroethylene in a contaminated aquifer. Several factors, including specific microbial redox couples, COD depletion, and the presence of daughter products, are used to both gain an understanding of natural dechlorination processes occurring in groundwater and assess the extent of contaminant destruction.

Wiedemeier T, Wilson J, Miller R, Kampbell D: United States Air Force guidelines for successfully supporting Intrinsic remediation with an example from Hill Air Force Base. Proceedings of the Petroleum Hydrocarbons Organic Chemicals in Groundwater: Prevention, Detection and Remediation Conference. Houston; National Waste Water Association/American Petroleum Institute; 1994:317-334. The framework for a repeatable and comprehensive protocol for the intrinsic bioremediation of fuels is developed. In addition, a case study detailing the application of this protocol at a fuel-contaminated site is presented.
