This study demonstrates a positive correlation between changes in urinary excretion rate of nitrate and nitrite (metabolites of NO) and changes in renal arterial pressure or urinary sodium excretion rate, indicating that an alteration in NO production rate is responsible for mediating pressure induced natriuretic response.

This study examined the role RIHP in the pressure-natriuretic phenomenon in anesthetized Dahl salt-sensitive rats treated with L-arginine. It was observed that L-arginine administration normalized pressure-natriuresis in Dahl salt-sensitive rats by increasing the slope of the relationship between renal perfusion pressure and RIHP, indicating the contributory role of RIHP in the pressure-natriuresis response.

This study examined the relation between changes in arterial pressure and changes in RIHP that occur spontaneously in conscious rats. RIHP was measured by implanting a Miller microtransducer in renal cortex. A significant positive correlation between spontaneous changes in arterial pressure and RIHP was observed implicating the importance of RIHP in pressure diuretic mechanism.
