Randomized trial of epirubicin and cisplatin chemotherapy followed by pelvic radiation in locally advanced cervical cancer
-
Tattersall MHN, Lorvidhaya V, Vootiprux V, Cheirsilpa A, Wong F, Azhar T, Lee HP, Kang SB, Manalo A, Yen MS, et al: Randomized trial of epirubicin and cisplatin chemotherapy followed by pelvic radiation in locally advanced cervical cancer. J Clin Oncol 1995, 13:444-451. Although three cycles of epirubicin platin prior to radiotherapy resulted in a high response rate, both local control and survival was inferior in the neoadjuvant arm. A slight excess of stage IIIb cancers in the neoadjuvant arm may have partly contributed to the negative results.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with vincristine and cisplatin followed by radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy for FIGO stage IB bulky cervical cancer: A Gynecologic Oncology Group pilot study
-
Eddy GL, Manetta A, Alvarez RD, Williams L, Creasman WT: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with vincristine and cisplatin followed by radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy for FIGO stage IB bulky cervical cancer: a Gynecologic Oncology Group pilot study. Gynecol Oncol 1995, 35:296-300. Of 34 women with bulky stage Ib carcinoma of the cervix, three cycles of vincristine and cisplatin prior to surgery resulted in a complete clinical response in two and a partial response in 26. Thirty-two underwent radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy. The benefit of this approach over standard management is unknown.
