Brain 1995, 118:629-660. A study of clinical, neuroimaging (MRI and CT) and electrophysiologic manifestations of a wide ranging group of disorders of the cerebral cortex in 100 adult patients. A little overambitious, as it includes neocortical and archicortical anomalies, includes dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors as cortical dysplasias, and includes tuberous sclerosis in the group; 90% of their patients had normal development in infancy and childhood and 91% have normal intelligence. Found poor correlation between electroencephalogram abnormalities and location of dysplasia as defined by MRI and pathology.

J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry 1994, 57:914-920. Two families are described in which the mothers had band heterotopias and four of their children had either similar heterotopia (two girls) or severe pachygyria/ lissencephaly (two boys). The severity of the clinical manifestations correlated with the severity of the pachygyria. The authors suggest an X-linked dominant inheritence.
