20. Isaacson PG, Spencer J: The biology of low grade MALT lymphoma. J Clin Pathol 1995, 48:395-397. This well written paper reviews the mechanisms of progression of low grade MALT lymphomas. It is a succinct and useful summary of the biology of these tumours.

Trisomy 3 is found in 60% of low grade MALT lymphomas in contrast to 16% of low grade B cell lymphomas, providing evidence that these tumours are a single pathological entity distinct from nodal B cell lymphomas.

Lancet 1995, 345:1591-1594. A study of 33 patients with low grade MALT lymphoma in which 70% showed tumour regression at a median follow-up of one year. It is noted that longer follow-up may clarify the outcome in the long-term.
