van Rhee F, Lin F, Cullis J, et al.: Relapse of chronic myeloid leukemia after allogeneic bone marrow transplant: the case for giving donor leukocyte transfusions before the onset of hematologic relapse. Blood 1994, 83:3377. Donor lymphocyte infusions seem to be more effective and less toxic when done in cytogenetic relapse than in hematologic relapse. The results, however, should not be interpreted as a reason to use donor lymphocyte infusions in patients with isolated molecular relapses.

Reconstitution of cellular immunity against cytomegalovirus in recipients of allogeneic bone marrow by transfer of T-cell clones from the donor
-
Walter E, Greenberg P, Gilbert M, et al.: Reconstitution of cellular immunity against cytomegalovirus in recipients of allogeneic bone marrow by transfer of T-cell clones from the donor. N Engl J Med 1995, 333:1038. Demonstrates that cytomegalovirus-specific donor lymphocytes can be cloned and infused without significant toxicity. Preliminary results also reveal that these cells can mediate an antiviral response and therefore be effective in prophylaxis.
