32. 19F NMR spectum of the bis-MTPA ester of the racemic diol shows 4 peaks at δ 72.61, 72.75, 72.90 and 73.02. The di-ester of the reduction product shows only two peaks at δ 72.61 and 72.90, corresponding to the R-isomer as determined by comparing the rotation with that reported in the literature. To be within the margin of error allowed in analyses using NMR spectroscopy, we report ≥96% ee.
