16. m(DNA) and is reported (Table 1) for two [DNAp]:[compound] molar ratios, 1:5 and 1:10. These values were selected following trials to establish the saturation concentration of each compound, and from experience with other agents which bind either by intercalation or via the minor groove of duplex DNA. The ratios selected did not lead to saturation of DNA binding.
