Induction of cross-reactive anti-dsDNA antibodies in preautoimmune NZB/NZW mice by immunization with bacterial DNA
-
Gilkeson GS, Pippen AMM, Pisetsky DS: Induction of cross-reactive anti-dsDNA antibodies in preautoimmune NZB/NZW mice by immunization with bacterial DNA. J Clin Invest 1995, 95:1398-1402. Bacterial dsDNA complexed to methylated bovine serum albumin can induce antibodies with features of lupus anti-dsDNA in animals predisposed to autoimmunity. These antibodies cross-react with mammalian DNA, but the animals do not elicit an antibody response to this DNA.

J Clin Invest 1995, 95:309-316. Phosphatidylethanolamine supports the activation of protein C without influencing prothrombin activation. Plasma from patients with minimal anticoagulant activity was found to potently inhibit activated protein C. This effect was shown to be due to immunoglobulin presumably antiphosphatidylethanolamine.
