This study showed that the newer amphotericin B preparations may be preferable drugs for the treatment of invasive fungal infections requiring amphotericin B in transplant recipients. The remarkably safe nephrotoxicity profile of these preparations is a highly desirable feature because renal failure has been shown to be an independent marker for increased mortality in liver transplant recipients.
