The powders of lyophilized proteins were stored at -20 °C before use. 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide (DMPO) was purchased from Aldrich Chemical Company (Milwaukee, WI). The bovine liver superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase were obtained from Sigma Chemical Company (St. Louis, MO).
