The reported NMR data were obtained at 20°C. The appearance of spectra recorded at higher temperatures changed as detailed below. Compound 28: The two sharp peaks observed at δ = 2.90 and 3.13 begin to broaden on raising the temperature; the two peaks merged at 80°C; the multiplet at δ = 3.32-3.41 became a broad peak at 70°C that merged with signals at δ = 3.56-3.69 at 80°C. Compound 29: The two sharp peaks observed at δ = 2.90 and 3.14 begin to broaden on raising the temperature; the two peaks merged at 80°C; the multiplet at δ = 3.34-3.39 became a broad singlet at 70°C that merged with signals at δ = 3.55-3.68 at 80°C. Compound 30: The two sharp peaks observed at δ = 2.87 and 3.12 begin to broaden on raising the temperature; the two peaks merged at 80°C; the two broad triplets at δ = 3.35 and 3.49 merged at 60°C and coalesced at 80°C; the two singlets at δ = 3.74 and 3.75 coalesced at 50°C; the two broad triplets at δ = 4.11 and 4.18 merged at 40°C and coalesced in a broad singlet at 60°C. Therefore there is evidence that the compounds 28-30 present two stable conformational isomers at room temperature.
