33. N. Muhitdinov (b. 1917) was the first secretary of the CPUz between December 1955 and December 1957 and was admitted to the Politburo of the CPSU as a candidate in 1956 and then a full member in 1957 until 1961. He was the only Central Asian to become secretary of the All-Union Central Committee of the CPSU (1957-1961). Donald S.
