Dopaminergic regulation of peptide gene expression in the striatum of normal and parkinsonian monkeys
-
Parent A, Asselin M-C, Côté PY: Dopaminergic regulation of peptide gene expression in the striatum of normal and parkinsonian monkeys. Adv Neurol 1996, 69:73-77. This article examines dynorphin and enkephalin mRNA signals utilizing in-situ hybridization histochemistry in primates with MPTP-parkinsonism. The authors emphasise that the dorsal and rostral gradient differs from rodent models, suggesting dynorphin is uniformly decreased but enkephalin increased specifically in the striatal regions that integrates sensorimotor cortical input.
