Diabetologia 1995, 38:1024-1050. The authors followed prospectively a large cohort of children aged 6-18 years and found that hyperinsulinemia preceded the development of hypertriglyceridemia and clustering of high triglyceride level, low HDL-cholesterol and high blood pressure.
