13. A paediatrician had observed 19 children with paralytic ileus arriving at his hospital after having received a specific brand of loperamide drops. Several of the children died [15]. The British TV documentary reported this. Faced with the negative publicity, the manufacturer initially decided on withdrawal of the specific product in Pakistan. Later, after media worldwide had picked up the issue and an editorial appeared in a medical journal [16], the company took the mentioned global action.
