    • J. T. Johnson received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1991, and the S.M. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree at MIT in the Center for Electromagnetic Theory and Application under a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship. His research interests are in the areas of microwave remote sensing and electromagnetic wave theory. Mr. Johnson is a student member of the IEEE, and a member of Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Phi Kappa Phi.

    • Jin Au Kong is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interest is in the area of electromagnetic wave theory and applications. He has published eight books and over 300 refereed articles and book chapters. He is the president of Electromagnetics Academy. He is also editor-in-chief of the Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, chief editor of the book series Progress in Electromagnetics Research, and editor of the Wiley Series in Remote Sensing. Professor Kong is a Fellow of the IEEE.

    • Robert T. Shin received his B.S. (1977), M.S. (1980), and Ph.D. (1984) in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since 1984 he has been a member of the Air Defense Techniques Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, as a Senior Staff from 1989 to 1992 and as an Assistant Group Leader since 1992. His research interest is in the areas of electromagnetic wave scattering and propagation, and theoretical model development, and data interpretation for microwave remote sensing. He is the coauthor of Theory of Microwave Remote Sencing (Wiley, 1985). Dr. Shin is a member of The Electromagnetics Academg, IEEE, American Geophysical Union, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu and Commission F of the International Union of Radio Science. Since 1987 he has served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications.

    • Simon H. Yueh received the B.S. (1982) and M.S. (1984) from the Electrical Engineering Department of the National Taiwan University, Taiwan, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1991 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a postdoctoral research associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from February to August, 1991. He developed various techniques for the calibration of polarimetric radars and theoretical models for the remote sensing of rough surfaces and vegetation. In 1991, he joined the SAR Systems Development and Processing Group at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is currently the team leader of NSCAT sensor verification team. His fields of interest include techniques and instrument developments for microwave ocean wind remote sensing, theories for active and passive microwave remote sensing, electromagnetics, and applications of polarimetric SAR data.

    • S. V. Nghiem received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering (1985, Summa Cum Laude) from Texas A&M University at College Station, M.S. (1988) and Ph.D. (1991) from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since 1991, he has been with the Radar Science and Engineering Section, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology. His research encompasses electromagnetic wave theory, model development for geophysical media, and polarimetric active and passive remote sensing. Dr. Nghiem is a member of IEEE, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Xi.

    • Ronald Kwok received the B.Sc. (summa cum laude) degree from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX in 1976 and the Ph.D. degree from Duke University, Durham, N.C. in 1980. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C. in 1981. In 1985, he joined the Radar Science and Engineering Section at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA where he developed techniques for analysis of SAR imagery and served in a radar system engineering capacity on the Magellan and Alaska SAR Facility projects. He is currently Group Supervisor of the SAR Systems Development and Processing Group responsible for research and development of analysis and processing techniques for SAR data. His research interests include polar oceanography and active and passive remote sensing of sea ice. Dr. Kwok is a member of the American Geophysical Union, American Meteorological Society, Electromagnetics Academy, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Eta Kappa Nu.
