The claim that this enzyme is brain-specific is not correct (see also [8 of special interest ,9 of outstanding interest, 13 of special interest, 42]). The observation that within the brain the type 5 enzyme is mainly found in the striatum, however, is corroborated by others. Localization of types 1 and 2 adenylyl Cyclases by in situ hybridization is in agreement with the data from other laboratories (see [19,20]).

    • of outstanding interest, in press, This paper shows for the first time that α-subunit modulation of a G protein/effector function can be regulated in an effector subtype-specific manner. Activated Giainhibits types 2, 3 and 6 adenylyl Cyclases. PKC activation suppresses the G;a inhibition of the type 2 enzyme, but does not affect types 3 and 6 adenylyl Cyclases.
