    • Such developments are reviewed in, A. Westlake et al., Elsevier, Amsterdam, It will be noted that the variances from the two models imply that the geography of drinking may, to a small extent, be regional, while that for smoking may be local, i.e. ward-based. Further research is currently addressing this issue and additionally considering multivariate situations in which both behaviours are examined simultaneously, and models which allow the effects of individual attributes to vary at the individual level.
