27. In some of the mature centers we traced the origins of several structured interactions to the “initial generation” stages. Such interactions included, for example, the communication mechanism between center personnel and industrial sponsors, as well as elements of the process such as frequency and content of the communication. Clearly these early patterns set the stage for the future prospects of the transfer of technology between the center and its industrial sponsors.
