    • A name of Maori origin has been given to this compound to commemorate 1990, the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. PATEA was the name of the earliest inhabitants of the Fiordland area on the West coast of the South Island of New Zealand. This is the area from which the Mycale sp. sponge was collected.
