    • See, e.g. discussion in, If one uses the atomic sphere approximation, a possible way of defining the charge transfer is to compare the amounts of charge within different WS spheres, though, the ambiguity still remains with respect to assigning definite volumes to the WS spheres. One way of making charge transfer less ambiguous is to compare charge distributions of interest with that of a “standard” reference system. In our case the reference system can be chosen to be “clean GB” (supercell with an empty sphere substituted for the impurity) + a single impurity layer (supercell with the empty spheres substituted for all Fe-atoms). With respect to such a reference system we still found that, for P, there is a negative charge transfer of 0.07 electrons.
