    • Recent FTIR dichroism stress relaxation experiments of, using centrally deuterated polystyrene chains indicate clearly that for homopolymers, the center of the chain relaxes at the same rate as the chain ends. This is in contradiction to the single‐chain reptation model and points to the decoupling of chain dynamics from the mechanical response of an entangled network.
