    • Since deprenyl and its metabolites are cleared within 24 to 48 hours after stopping the drug, the only pharmacologic effect that might be long-lasting is its action on MAO B, as it binds irreversibly to this enzyme. However, replacement synthesis results in a gradual return of MAO B activity within 2 to 3 weeks. Therefore, the washout period of 1 month should have been fully adequate to detect a transient dopaminomimetic effect, had there been one
