    • Most of Horton's argument in the first half of his paper, where he draws attention to the similarities between the two modes of thinking, is about the technical role played by analogies in explaining events. In the second half, where he underlines differences, Horton is mainly concerned with showing the solipsistic organization of African traditional thinking.
