    • 2/k/k. A ratio of 2/1/1 implies that both termination steps contribute equally (k ∼ 1). The absence of 3 and 4 implies that k is either very large or very small, i.e. only one of the two termination steps contributes.

    • An isotactic structure is one in which the chiral centres of the repeat units all have the same absolute stereochemistry (G. Natta, P. Pino, P. Corradini, E. Danusso, E. Mantica, G. Mazzanti, G Moraglio, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 77, 1708 (1955)); in a syndiotactic polymer, neighbouring units have opposite stereochemistry. If an isotactic polyolefin is drawn in its extended conformation, it will have all its substituents pointing in the same direction. However, if an isotactic polyketone is drawn in its extended configuration, the substituents will point alternately up and down.
