    • 4 was prepared by the reaction of elemental potassium and selenium in the appropriate stoichiometric ratio in an evacuated Pyrex tube. The tube was put into an autoclave under a nitrogen atmosphere, and then slowly heated to 400°C for 5 h. CAUTION: This highly exothermic reaction should always be carried out behind a blast shield in a fume cabinet.
