I also use interviews conducted at the Gorbachev Foundation (from here on cited as the Gorbachev Fond Interviews) in Moscow in July-August 1995 with Vyacheslav Viktorovich Viktorov, who was transferred from the Propaganda Department to the General Department at the beginning of the first reorganisation and served as Grigorii Revenko's chief of staff when after the August 1991 putsch he became head of the USSR Presidential apparat after having served on the Presidential Council in 1990. I also interviewed Revenko, Gorbachev's top adviser Georgii Shakhnazarov, and former Politburo member and CC Secretary for ideology Vadim Medvedev, who also served on the Presidential Council in 1990.
