20. The formation of multiple quasi-bound-states for a finite size scatterer has been discussed in Ref. 2, and the effects of these can be seen in the transmission as the multiple dips, but not resonant peaks before the first plateau in the conductance.
21. Similar arguments for a double-bend quantum channel have been discussed by Wang et al. in J. Appl. Phys. 77, 2564 (1995). However, the formation of two quasi-bound-states in their structure is due to purely geometrical effects, i.e., the double-bend discontinuity, not an impurity.
