21. In aqueous solutions containing Rh(III) ions and a water soluble phosphine the latter is catalytically oxidized with water (see ref. 9). A similar process was also observed for Rh(I). This process is highly dependent on the solution parameters. A detailed study of the reaction between Rh(I) or Rh(III) and the potentially chelating P-O phosphine ligand in aqueous media will be reported elsewhere.
