    • x source that theoretically contributes to transported ozone are those in rural settings. These emissions sources can create separate ozone plumes, which transport downwind as aged ozone. This ozone is known as ozone aloft and does not have any theoretical impact until the next day when it is (theoretically) mixed with new ozone generated in the urban setting. This is the key problem because there is no quantitative measurements, which verify the importance of this phenomenon relative to the ozone ambient standard.

    • Non-attainment estimates have been aggregated to represent the status by city. This measurement of non-attainment differs from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) count, which lists areas by county. Although the actual number of areas is smaller, the count includes the same areas as EPA's number.
