Statistical thermodynamics of polymers near surfaces
-
This review describes the current understanding of the structural and thermodynamic properties of tethered polymer layers. In particular, it describes the applicability of different theoretical approaches for different regimes of polymer molecular weight and surface coverages. Comparisons between experimental observations and theoretical predictions for a variety of properties are presented.

Protein adsorption on surfaces with grafted polymers: A theoretical approach
-
The generalization of the SCMF theory to study protein adsorption on tethered polymer layers is presented. The relationship between the structure of the layer, the potentials of mean-force between the surface and the protein and the resulting protein adsorption is studied for a variety of systems. The paper presents studies of the behavior of the equilibrium adsorption as compared to the kinetics of adsorption as a function of the type of surface, surface coverage of polymer and polymer molecular weight.
