    • The glass transition temperature of a PNIPAM particle produced by the phase transition will be lower than this temperature, since the particle is swollen in water. However, we could not observe vaporization of water even under prolonged 1064-nm laser irradiation, so that the solution temperature would be much lower than 100 °C. The glass transition of the polymer is therefore not expected in the present system.
