18. p-tert-Butylcalix[4]arene (265 mg, 0.408 mmol) was dissolved in nitrobenzene (4 mL), stirred, and heated at 100°C for 1 h. The clear yellow solution was cooled to room temperature which induced the formation of colourless crystals of 1 (189 mg, 0.245 mmol; 60% yield).
