16. General procedure for intramolecular cyclisation. (Reactions were carried out on a 0.3-0.5 mmol scale). A solution of monobactams 3 or 4 in dry THF was added dropwise under nitrogen atmosphere to a solution of the base in dry THF as specified in Table 1. Direct work up or quenching with phenylselenyl chloride followed by usual work up, give the reaction products.
