    • Methodology; The preliminary survey instrument involved 60 upper-level managers in Puerto Vallarta, Monterrey and Mexico Ciry in 1990 and 1991. It was designed to measure the propensity to form alliances a long Mexican firms not currently involved in alliances. Alliances were defined here as in subsequent investigations as cooperative/collaborative arrangements between firms lasting more than a single (market) transaction, though less integrated than outright marger or acquisition. Thus shared equity, as in the case of a joint venture, was allowed under this defination. Other examples of alliances distribution accords, franchises, volume buying arrangements, management contracts, buybacks, technology transfers, joint buying agreements, trademark licensing, assembly agreements, production agreements, start-up accords, R&D agreements and technical training agreements.The survey instrument was translated into Spanish using a back/translation/de-centering [[Truncated]]
