    • Note
    • 4 radicals can react via a third-order mechanism with molecular hydrogen. The authors only became aware of this article following completion of the first draft of this manuscript. The ideas proposed in our article, and also that of Klingler and Rathke, cited above are not new in and of themselves. What is new is the degree of quantitative and qualitative support now generated for this type of mechanism being applicable to cobalt carbonyl.
