Statistical Analyses. Egg weight, egg weight loss due to storage (absolute and relative), egg specific gravity, adjusted specific gravity, shell weight (absolute and relative), and colorintensity were analyzed as a 4 × 3 factorial design (four strains of birds [Strain]; three feed allocations [Feed]), using SAS for personal computers [13]. Furthermore, Pearson correlation coefficients [14] were calculated for the main variables (egg specific gravity, adjusted specific gravity, weight loss [absolute and relative], shell weight [absolute and relative], and color intensity) using SAS. Unless otherwise stated, all statements of significance were based on testing at the P < .05 level.
