12. In attempt to prepare 6-phenylsulfonylchromene via Claisen rearrangement, we could not synthesize the required aryl propargyl ether (6) under Godfrey's conditions (Scheme 3). The chromene can be prepared by selective oxidation of 6-phenylthiochromene (product in entry 3, Table 1) with mCPBA. (Matrix Presented)
