20. Before this reaction, sulfonic acid-MCM-41 was washed with distilled water until the washings were neutral, followed by additional washing. The sample was then dried overnight under vacuum at 120 °C. No remaining nitrogen (e.g., due to nitric acid) was detected by chemical analysis.
