32. Most theories (including the present one) give either counting or single ionization cross sections. Since there is only a small difference between the counting, single, and total ionization cross sections for the targets under study due to the fact that cross sections for the formation of multiply charged ions are rather small (Refs. 2 and 4), we use the term total ionization cross section without further distinction.
