Although not directly related to the theme of the present work, it is worth pointing out that time-resolved photofragment angular distributions are expected to provide valuable complementary information with regard to alignment-modifying interactions such as rotation-vibration coupling and electronic nonadiabaticity. While measurement of the electron signal offers technical advantages, the interpretation of photofragment angular distributions is easier since it relies on knowledge of the photofragmentation, rather than the photoionization transition dipole elements and since the fragmentation dynamics can be often made simple and rapid. We note that vibranonal energy flow was recently studied in the time domain using photodissociation as the probe stage, D. Bingemann, M. P. Gorman, A. M. King, and F. F. Crim, J. Chem. Phys. 107, 661 (1997).
