    • The effects of the surface roughness should be considered in the discussion of the molecular orientation change of the monolayer in a microscopic level. It should be emphasized that the information about the molecule orientation obtained by FT-IRRAS measurement in the present study represents only averaged properties of the self-assembled monolayer. A detailed study using a relatively flat (111) ordered gold electrode is in progress. A detailed procedure for the preparation of the flat (111) ordered surface by vacuum evaporation of gold onto a gold polycrystalline disk is given elsewhere: Uosaki, K.; Ye, S.; Kondo, T. J. Phys.
