Concerning the density of photons, data from the Far-InfraRed Absolute Spectrometer (FIRAS) of the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) shows that the spectrum of MBR is that of a blackbody of temperature (Formula presented) K, with no deviation from a Planckian spectrum greater than 0.25% of the peak brightness and a limit on the Compton (Formula presented) parameter of (Formula presented) (95% C.L.).
