    • Note that the effective potential method gives the ground state configuration in the thermodynamic limit. So, no special boundary conditions are needed. In the Newton relaxation method and molecular dynamics simulations we have used periodic boundary condition in the longitudinal direction of the ladder compatible with the commensurability of the ground state, which is exactly determined by the effective potentials method.
