- We turn to the quasiparticle representation in order to avoid questions about coordinate dependence of the local chemical potential, which, in a leading approximation, has a form μ(x) = (eV/L)x. Indeed, taking the μ(x) profile into account is beyond the quasiparticle picture that we use and that would lead to a small correction to the answer proportional to eV/ varepsilonF ll 1.
