58. The singlet-triplet gap is expected to affect the isc rate. Unfortunately the calculations we performed are not able to give reliable estimates for S-T gaps. However, we note that there is little difference between the S-T gaps calculated for trimethylene and 1-amino-3-cyanotrimethylene at any geometry. Our calculations thus provide no evidence that differences in the S-T gap with substituent contribute to substituent effects on isc for substituted trimethylenes.
